Making The Web Into a TV Channel

An exciting new tool was announced this week claiming to be the future of online news, because it ‘can turn the web into TV’.

It’s a bold claim, and an intriguing one. Most of us are on social media websites, blogs and more, which we tailor to our personal preferences. This creates personalised ‘feeds’ which most of us read at various times during the day. But there are times when it’s not convenient to read, and all of a sudden, our rich internet starts to seem rather one-dimensional. Enter Guide. This new service takes our various news feeds and delivers them in a news channel style, as presented by a fave celeb, a robot… or even a dog or cat. It uses the rapidly improving technology of text-to-speech recognition. That means users can catch up when they’d otherwise be engaged, for example while cooking or exercising. It opens a world of potential.
