Ever been walking along, phone in pocket or handbag, and not felt it vibrate? Or not heard it go off? Or worse, just been too damn lazy to reach across the table to see who it is trying to get hold of you?
Of course you have. We all have. That’s part of the charm of a new problem-solving gadget called EMBRACE+, currently being touted on KickStarter. It’s a wearable, customisable, illuminating wristband, set to work in unison with your phone and alert you to what’s happening, without you having to look. That might mean setting a green illumination for when the ‘other half’ is getting in touch, red for a work email – or blue for a Facebook message, for example. And if you’re worried you might not look cool with EMBRACE+, we’re almost certain hipsters across the lands will seek to prove you wrong sometime soon.
For all the potential of wearable technology, some of the most simple ideas will be the most useful. Sure, this might need some design work to make it look less like you’re off to a 90s rave – but we still think you should KickStart it…
